Why plan ahead
Anyone who dies without having recorded their wishes leaves the decisions to their relatives — at a moment when they are already overwhelmed. Burial or cremation, which cemetery, which music, which faith, a funeral here or in the country of origin: these are questions a grieving family has to answer within a few days.
Funeral planning takes that burden off them. You record in writing what you want, we keep the document, and in the event of your death a single call from your relatives is enough — everything else is already settled.
This matters especially for families whose roots are not in Switzerland. Whether someone wishes to be buried in Switzerland or repatriated to their home country is a deeply personal decision — and one that relatives can often only guess at if it was never discussed.
Process
We sit down together — on our premises, at your home or by telephone. You tell us what matters to you, we explain the options. The conversation is free and commits you to nothing.
Form of funeral, place, ceremony, faith, music, who should be informed, whether a repatriation is wanted. We go through the points together so that nothing is forgotten.
We prepare a cost breakdown at today's prices — transparent, with every item listed separately. You and your family then know what to expect.
Your wishes are recorded in a written funeral directive. You keep one copy, we keep one, and you can make changes at any time.
On request, the costs can be deposited in advance. We explain the usual routes and how they are secured — without pressure and without a sales pitch.
Your relatives call and give your name. We have everything on file and carry out what you laid down. Nobody has to decide, nobody has to search.
In detail
Funeral planning settles how you wish to be buried. A will settles what happens to your assets. Both are sensible, but one does not replace the other — and a will is often only opened weeks after the funeral, far too late for funeral wishes. Anyone who wants to settle everything should also consider an advance directive and a power of attorney for incapacity. We advise you on funeral planning and tell you frankly when you should involve a notary or legal adviser for the rest.
Questions & answers
The advisory conversation and recording your wishes cost you nothing. Costs arise only if you decide to deposit the funeral costs in advance — and they then correspond to the services you have chosen.
At any time and as often as you like. Funeral planning is not a binding contract made over your head but an expression of will that you control. Simply get in touch if something should change.
Let us know and we will adjust the directive. If you leave Switzerland permanently, we will discuss which parts still make sense and whether a repatriation to Switzerland or a funeral in the new country of residence is preferred.
Funeral planning funds are not mixed with the company's operating assets but deposited separately. We explain precisely in the conversation which route is chosen and how it is secured — and you receive that in writing.
It is strongly recommended. Planning only helps if someone knows, when the time comes, that it exists. We therefore give you a copy for your records and a card with our number that you can pass on to relatives.
